Alilo are: Vera, Jacqui and Bill on vocals
I am part of three-part Georgian voice ensemble ALILO, the formation of which has allowed me to deepen my experience of, and passion for, this extraordinary music described by UNESCO as a “Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Cultural Heritage of the World”.
ALILO perform occasionally, often singing healing songs to individuals, and run workshops.
The members of ALILO also run a regular committed Georgian choir now called BUKHARI which means fireplace. To us this expresses the warmth, togetherness and intimacy associated with the hearth which we experience through these songs. The choir have been meeting since 2009 and meet fortnightly in a private house with glorious views overlooking the dunes at Findhorn.
This is a closed group, but at the beginning of every term we open it up to new singers.
